THIS ENGLAND

THURSDAY 23RD APRIL | ARCH 635 | DOORS 7:45 | £5

This St George’s Day, Upstart is teaming up with our friends at Arch 635 to bring you an evening of new theatre and acoustic music exploring the idea of Englishness.

THEATRE:
‘Bowler Hats, Rolling Fields and Knife Crime’ directed by Laura Casey
Performed by Duncan Barrett, Sophie Horton and Oscar Wood; devised by the company

England is bordered by two countries but she has become influenced by many more. With class issues, teenage pregnancies and a penchant for football hooliganism, England has many more facets than the average tourist would expect. Bowler Hats, Rolling Fields and Knife Crime investigates whether the stiff-upper-lip English stereotype still exists or if something else has replaced it.

‘The Great English Game Show’
Created and performed by Sarah Sigal, Ellie McRea and Penny Lisle.

An improvised and interactive exploration of English stereotypes featuring marionette games, multiple genres and possibly even Mallet’s Mallet.

MUSIC:

Kim Donovan (http://www.evalawton.com)
Tony Lyons (http://www.thelightyears.com)
Red Tanja (http://www.redtanja.com)

plus special guests!

Doors will open at 8.30pm for an 9pm start. Admission is £5, with all the proceeds going towards Upstart’s 22nd July Project.
