Theatre Speed Date V

Upstart’s fifth Theatre Speed Date will bring together directors and writers at the Young Vic Theatre on Wednesday 20th June.
A networking event with a dating twist, Theatre Speed Date is a chance for directors and writers to meet in a quick-fire environment to exchange ideas and build new relationships. Ten writers and ten directors will have the opportunity to talk for three minutes before a bell rings and the partnerships change.
The evening will be accompanied by wine and nibbles and followed by the opportunity to join the Upstart team in the Young Vic bar. Participants are encouraged to bring business cards to the event to exchange contact details.
Upstart Theatre is a critically acclaimed company dedicated to producing entertaining and compelling work which deals with the burning issues of our time. We believe in the critical importance of building relationships between directors, writers and other creatives.
Upstart cannot promise love at first sight, but can guarantee inspiring and fruitful connections between theatre makers.
If you’re a writer interested in forming new relationships with directors please email literary@upstart-theatre.co.uk by midday on Wednesday 13th June. Upstart are looking for writers with a range of experience – from beginners to established playwrights – so please include a paragraph about yourself and why you want to take part in Theatre Speed Date in your application. There’s no need to send us a formal CV. The Young Vic do not accept script submissions as part of this opportunity but writers are encouraged to submit new work to Upstart via the address above.
Directors will be invited to apply via the Young Vic’s Genesis Network, so if you’re not already a member do visit their website to sign up.
This is a free event.
