Two of our Upstart colleagues, writer Sarah Sigal (The Christmas Truce) and director Jessica Beck (Zoo), are behind a rather spiffing show at the Old Red Lion Theatre. Sarah’s new play Alice’s Adventures in the New World is a picaresque nineteenth-century voyage from Ireland to Colorado, via bohemian London and the world of New York’s down-and-out theatricals and society belles. It’s had some great reviews (check out the whatsonstage.com one here), a terrific cast and design, and Upstart regular sound and lighting designer Phil Hewitt has brought some brilliant Heath-Robinson contraptions to the sound. I’ve seen the show twice now and thoroughly enjoyed it – check it out!
Booking available via the Old Red Lion website.
