Upstart associate artist and creator of MARCO (made with the support of DARE Festival 2016 and developed by Upstart for a UK tour in 2018), Simon Carroll-Jones aims to bring a skatepark into a theatre in The Local: A Skatepark Project. Promising flip-tricks, grinds, dancing, story-telling, music and swearing (not necessarily in that order), this work is about skateparks and the people who live there. It explores the concepts of ownership of space and freedom of space at a time when space becomes driven by money and profit.
