Money Funny Sunny is a devised theatre piece exploring the financial struggles of theatre companies, especially international artists working in the UK in the post-Brexit era. With the help of an audience, the show attempts to unpack what money means to the artists investing money and time into their work without enough income to pay their bills.

Achingly desperate and playfully honest, Money Funny Sunny is a burning question mark around how artists survive when pursuing a career in the arts, encouraging the audience to reflect on their spending patterns compared to the expenses behind the show.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Cheeky Chin is a London-based collective of theatre makers of East Asian descent led by Yuyu Wang. We make innovative devised theatre performances of socio-political importance with our East Asian perspective as a female-led company collaborating with international artists.

Our work challenges the cultural stereotyping and provokes our audience with original insights beyond box-ticking. We hope to open the floor for new discussions about what is happening in the world and what matters to the people now. We unpack large-scale social issues with creative responses in the form of theatre. We are keen to enrich the cultural diversity of theatre.
